UniMac Washer-Extractor Error Code EI0E: IR Encryption Error
EI0E is an infrared encryption error: the data from the external device did not match the security code the washer expects, so the control turned it away. Check the code on the tool, re-aim it, and try again once.
Low: the control rejected one programming transfer and production carries on.

What does UniMac error code EI0E mean?
The programming settings of a UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractor are protected by a security code, so a stray tool cannot rewrite how the machine washes. When a tool sends data through the infrared window, the control compares the code in that data with the one it holds. If they do not match, the control refuses the transfer and shows EI0E. That protects the machine's settings from the wrong tool. Regular washing is unaffected, and nothing in the wash, drain or spin systems is involved in the message. The manual points to the security code entered on the tool, the pairing between tool and control, the aim during the transfer, and the security setting held in the control. A typing slip in the code, or a tool set up for a different washer, is the ordinary explanation. Guessing codes over and over is not helpful; check the right one and try once more.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to the PHM1263R family of UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractors, models UWL, UWN and UWU 035 to 125, such as the UWL035K12. EI0E belongs to the infrared message group.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- EI0E on the display after sending data
- Tool reporting a rejected code
- Normal washing
- Same refusal on every repeat with the same code
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- Security code entered on the tool
- Pairing between tool and control
- Aim during the transfer
- Security setting held in the control
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EI0E on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A tool still set to the code for another washer in the same laundry
- A security code that was changed on the control and not updated on the tool
- A transfer garbled enough that the code arrives incomplete
Safe checks before calling for service
- Re-aim the tool at the infrared window and try again.
- Check the security code on the tool and make sure it matches the washer.
- Avoid guessing codes over and over.
- If EI0E returns with the right code, note the tool used and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code EI0E
- Read the code and confirm the security code held for this machine in the programming records.
- Check the tool's stored machine pairing and its code entry.
- Repeat the transfer with a clean aim to rule out a garbled code.
- Try a second paired tool.
- Reset the security setting only following the maker's procedure.
- Changing or resetting a security setting means altering protected programming of the machine.
- Pairing and code records have to be matched against your laundry's own documents.
- Testing the control's security circuit needs the maker's service procedure.
