UniMac Industrial Washer Unbalance Error: Load Out of Balance
Unbalance Error means the UniLinc control detected an unbalanced load. It runs the following Spray Rinse Extract and Extract steps at reduced speed and carries on. No error is shown at cycle end, and no operator action is required.
Low: the machine handles the unbalance by running slower, and the cycle completes.

What does UniMac Unbalance Error mean?
When the drum shakes because the load is lopsided, the control does not throw the cycle away. It detects the unbalance, slows the Spray Rinse Extract and Extract steps that follow, and continues. At the end of the cycle no error is displayed. The only trace is in the audit counter and the alarm log, where the event is counted. The manual states that no action is required, and the user can unlock and open the door and return to the Cycle Menu. The consequence for the laundry is that the load comes out wetter than usual, because extraction ran slower. Frequent unbalance on a machine is a signal about how it is loaded, not about the machine. It could also point to a worn mounting or a balance sensing problem if it happens with even, modest loads, and in that case the audit counter gives the technician a running total to work from.
Affected models and control systems
UniMac UniLinc control on the UW35TV, UW60TV, UW80TV, UW100TV, UW125TV and UW150TV washer-extractors and the UWL, UWN and UWU 035-150 T3 models.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Load comes out wetter than usual
- Drum vibrating more than normal in extraction
- Extraction sounds slower
- The audit counter for unbalance rising
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind Unbalance Error on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Unbalanced load detected during the cycle
- Heavy items bunched together in the tub
- Load too small to distribute evenly
- Machine mounting loose
- Balance sensing reporting early
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the door once it unlocks and check how wet the load is.
- Redistribute the load for the next cycle.
- Mix heavy and light items instead of loading one bulky item.
- If the load is too wet, run a second extract.
- If it happens with even loads, tell the technician.
How a technician diagnoses Unbalance Error
- Check the audit counter and the alarm log for unbalance counts.
- Ask about the types of loads being run.
- Check the machine mounting and foundation.
- Check the balance sensing inputs.
- Adjust loading practice or repair the mounting or sensing.
- Reduced-speed extraction protects the machine, but repeated events deserve attention.
- Mounting and balance parts are on a heavy spinning machine.
- Balance sensing needs a meter and the maker's data.
How Unbalance Error differs from similar codes
Unbalance Error does not abort the cycle. Drive Balance Switch Error and Frame Balance Switch Error do.

Do I have to do anything?
No. The manual says no action is required.
Why is the load still wet?
Extraction was run at reduced speed because of the unbalance.
Can I stop it happening?
Spread the load evenly and mix item sizes.
