The OV500 is Baxter’s rotating rack oven with an advanced electronic control and backup controls. It is made in single and double rack sizes: OV500E1, OV500E2, OV500G1-EE, OV500G2-EE, OV500G1 and OV500G2. Some are current and others are older units still baking bakeries.
The control tells us a lot. SHdn in the timer display with a flashing oven temperature means a safety shutdown, LOC OUT means a lockout after the oven fell below 150 F, and rapid beeping is a temperature alert. We read the message, then check the burner or elements, the temperature probe and the door.
The OV500 control gives us clear messages to work from, which speeds up diagnosis. We give a written price first, and we tell you plainly if an older oven is past a sensible repair.

It is a safety alarm. The control shuts down heating, sounds an alarm, flashes the actual oven temperature and shows SHdn in the timer display. We trace which safety condition tripped.
Can you work on the older OV500 versions?
Yes, with or without the -EE ending. We read the control messages and check the heat source first. A written price comes first, and older controls are read the same way.
Is SHdn the same as LOC OUT?
No. SHdn is a safety shutdown that stops heating and sounds an alarm, while LOC OUT is a lockout after the oven falls below 150 F.
