Model numbers in this series
Find yours on the data plate. Letters after the base number usually mark the voltage, finish or door and do not change the repair.
- PFE 500
- PFG 600
- PFE 561
Repairs this series usually needs
- Drain open message because the handle or microswitch is not seated
- High limit tripped after overheated oil
- Gas models failing to light with an ignition module message
- Electric models showing heat amps too high, too low or locked on
- Oil probe messages on the display
The Velocity pressure fryers are the 4-head and 6-head Henny Penny fryers sold today, in electric as the PFE 500 and PFE 561 and in gas as the PFG 600. Look for those model numbers on the data plate. Some carry the Computron 8000 control and some a simpler one, and Pressure Assist may be fitted.
On these fryers we start with what the display says. A drain message sends us to the handle and microswitch. A high-limit message makes us ask how hot the oil got and why. Gas fryers that will not light get a look at the ignition module and the gas supply, while electric ones get a current test at the elements and contactors.
Lid gaskets and the filtration pump also decide how well a pressure fryer works day to day, so we check them while we are there.

The data plate shows PFE 500, PFE 561 or PFG 600. The lid and the number of heads help too. If the plate is hard to read, give us a photo and we will place it.
Do the same codes apply to gas and electric Velocity fryers?
Many do. Drain, probe and high-limit messages appear on both. Ignition messages belong to gas fryers only, and heat amps messages belong to electric ones only.
Will you service one that is several years old?
Yes. Pressure fryers last a long time with good care. We quote in writing before we start, give a 30-day workmanship warranty on the work, and say so plainly if a repair is not worth the cost.
