The P30 is the main UltraGold gas fryer, built in 14 and 18 inch widths with a phased-array heat exchanger called PAR-3. Model numbers read like B-P30-14-3-UCP, where the digits near the end give the number of vats and UCP means UltraClear Plus filtration. The UltraStat 23 runs the control.
On these batteries we check the probe and the controller first, since that is where a PROBE message and an over-temperature alarm start. Ignition, the gas valve and the high limit come next, and we confirm the filtration side too.
If the oil level has dropped below the fill line, the limit can trip, so keep the oil topped up. If you smell gas near a P30, step outside and phone the gas utility from there.

UCP stands for UltraClear Plus, the built-in filtration. A model that ends in UC has the standard filter instead, so the last letters tell us which filter system to check.
My P30 shows PROBE. What now?
Switch it off, let it cool and make sure the probe is plugged in. If the message returns, call us to test the probe, its wiring and the controller before the fryer cooks again.
