Speed Queen MDC Topload Washer Error Code E:FL: Maximum Fill Time
E:FL on an older MDC topload washer means the maximum fill time ran out before the control saw the water level it wanted. Open both faucets fully and look for a kinked hose. If it returns, ask us to schedule a technician.

What does Speed Queen error code E:FL mean?
The MDC control works as a timer that watches for a level signal. During a fill, it waits for the pressure switch to report that the tub has reached the right level. If the maximum fill time ends first, it stops the fill and shows E:FL, and the cycle cannot go on. These older controls allow a longer fill time than the Quantum ones, close to an hour, so a very slow fill can take a while before the code appears. That detail matters when you are standing at the machine: a washer that has been filling slowly for most of an hour is not stuck, it is simply close to the limit. A closed faucet, a pinched hose, clogged inlet screens or a sticky mixing valve will all slow the fill. If water is arriving normally and the tub is full, the pressure switch and its tubing, or the control's reading of the level, deserve suspicion. This line is still in service and we repair it.
