Speed Queen Washer Error Code EdF2: DC Bus Voltage Error
EdF2 is a DC bus voltage error on a Quantum frontload washer. The inverter's internal voltage fell outside the range the drive accepts, so the drive stopped and the washer will not spin. Cycle the power once, try a single cycle, and call us if it returns.
High: the drive shuts down and the washer will not spin until the cause is cleared.

What does Speed Queen error code EdF2 mean?
A Quantum frontload washer runs its motor through an inverter. The inverter converts incoming power into direct current, called the DC bus, and then builds the motor drive from it. The drive watches that internal voltage all the time. If the DC bus voltage drops too low or climbs too high, the drive cannot run the motor safely, so it shuts down to protect itself and the display shows EdF2. Since the water steps do not depend on the inverter, the washer may have filled, washed and drained properly and then stopped at the spin, leaving a wet load with the code up. The manual's list of things to look at includes low or unstable supply voltage, loose connections at the inverter control, damaged motor wiring that pulls the bus out of range, and a power interruption just before the code appeared. This is a supply and drive condition, not a water or door one.
Affected models and control systems
Quantum frontload washers in the FLW1535C family; the code comes from the inverter drive on the electronic control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The washer stops before or during spin with EdF2 showing
- A wet load is left in the drum
- The code follows a flicker or brief outage in building power
Possible causes
Listed in Speed Queen's documentation
- Low or unstable supply voltage reaching the washer
- Loose connections at the inverter control
- Damaged motor wiring pulling the DC bus out of range
- A power interruption right before the code appeared
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code EdF2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Other heavy equipment on the same circuit sagging the line when the motor starts
- A bus capacitor in the inverter that no longer holds voltage steady under load
Safe checks before calling for service
- Cycle the power off and on, which is how Quantum drive codes are cleared.
- Hold off on the door until the lock lets go.
- Try one cycle after power returns.
- If EdF2 returns, set up a technician visit with us and mention any lights flickering or other machines tripping nearby.
How a technician diagnoses error code EdF2
- Confirm the code and ask when it appears: at start, at spin, or after an outage.
- Measure the supply voltage at the washer's disconnect, idle and while the motor starts.
- Check the connections at the inverter control and the motor leads for looseness or damage.
- Test the motor windings and leads to ground and to each other.
- Monitor the cycle for repeat trips once supply and wiring are proven.
- Replace the inverter control only after the supply and motor tests pass.
- Measuring supply voltage at the disconnect and inverter means working near live 208-240 V.
- Motor winding and lead tests need the machine locked out and a proper meter.
- An unstable building supply is an electrical question that can damage other equipment if guessed at.
How error code EdF2 differs from similar codes
EdF3 and EdF4 also stop the Quantum drive, but they report overcurrent and power module temperature. EdF2 concerns the internal DC voltage.

Related Speed Queen washer error codes
Can I still use the washer after EdF2?
You can try one cycle after the power returns, but a repeat means the washer should stay out of service until we check it.
Could a power outage cause EdF2?
Yes, the manual lists a power interruption just before the code as a cause. If a power cycle clears it and it stays away, no repair may be needed.
Is EdF2 a water problem?
No. The code concerns the voltage inside the inverter, so water, the door and payment are not involved.
