Speed Queen Washer Error Code EdF5: Motor Fails to Spin Up
EdF5 means the motor on a Quantum frontload washer did not reach 20 RPM within 10 seconds of starting, so the drive stopped. The washer will not spin and the load stays wet. Power it off and on, take some load out if it was overfull, and call us if EdF5 returns.

What does Speed Queen error code EdF5 mean?
When a Quantum frontload washer starts a spin, the drive turns the motor and watches the speed. The control expects the drum to reach 20 RPM within 10 seconds. If the motor is still slower than that at the 10-second mark, the control concludes that something is stopping it, and the drive shuts down to avoid burning the motor. The display then shows EdF5. The motor tried and the drum would not turn fast enough; the control cannot tell on its own whether the cause is mechanical or electrical. The manual lists a drum that is jammed or dragging, the motor and its wiring, the belt and bearings, and the inverter control. A heavy or unbalanced load can also hold the drum back. The washer will not spin, and the load stays wet in the drum. The code is about the drive's ability to get the drum moving, so water, door and payment are not involved.
