Speed Queen Quantum Topload Washer Error Code E oF: Overflow
E oF means the control saw water over the overflow level for longer than five minutes, so it stopped the machine. Shut the supply faucets behind the washer, blot water off the floor, and have us service it before it is used again.
High: the tub can overflow, so the supply should be off and the machine idle until it is checked.

What does Speed Queen error code E oF mean?
A Quantum topload washer measures its water level with a pressure sensor, and it knows the level that counts as overflow. If the water stays above that level for more than five minutes, the control stops the machine to keep water from leaving the tub, shows E oF, and ends the cycle with water still in the tub. You see a stopped washer with the code and a tub that is fuller than it should be. The cause is rarely the sensor alone. More often a fill valve that does not shut off keeps adding water, or the drain pump and the drain path are not removing it. A pressure sensor and tubing that report the wrong level, or a control that misreads the level, can also convince the washer the tub is overfull. Five minutes is a long time for a tub to sit above the overflow line, which is why the code is treated as serious: the water is real until proven otherwise.
Affected models and control systems
This page covers Quantum topload washers in the TLW13C family. Other Speed Queen controls report a rising or falling level with different codes.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- The tub is fuller than normal when the cycle stops
- Water on the floor around the washer
- E oF shows with the lid locked
Possible causes
Listed in Speed Queen's documentation
- Fill valves that do not shut off
- Pressure sensor and tubing
- Drain pump and drain path
- Control reading of the level
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E oF on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A fill valve stuck open by grit, which keeps feeding the tub after the fill step
- A drain pump that stopped moving water, leaving the tub to fill from a leaking valve
Safe checks before calling for service
- Shut the water supply faucets behind the washer so nothing keeps filling it.
- Leave the lid down until its lock lets go.
- Blot any water off the floor.
- Ask us to schedule service before the machine is used again, and tell us the cycle step when the code appeared.
How a technician diagnoses error code E oF
- Read the code and ask how full the tub was and whether the floor was wet.
- With the supply off, check whether the drain pump runs and the tub empties.
- Test each fill valve for leakage when it should be closed.
- Inspect the pressure sensor tubing and compare its reading with the actual level.
- Replace the valve, pump or sensor only after it fails a test.
- The fill valves and drain pump run on line voltage behind the cabinet, and testing them live is work for a licensed technician.
- A tub left full can flood the floor near electrical equipment.
- Separating a leaking valve from a failed pump or a bad level reading takes controlled tests with the supply off and on.
How error code E oF differs from similar codes
E LF reports a level rising when the fill valves should be closed, while E oF reports the water staying above the overflow line.

Related Speed Queen washer error codes
Is it safe to keep using the washer after E oF?
No. Shut the water off and keep the washer idle until a valve or drain problem is ruled out.
Is E oF the same as E LF?
They are close. E LF catches a rising level after a fill; E oF reports water over the overflow level for five minutes.
Will it clear itself?
The display may clear, but the water cause stays until it is repaired.
