To close the door lock, the board first sends the solenoid a short, strong pulse, and then lowers the current to hold it. That pulse is what makes the lock engage firmly. The board checks the pulse circuit as part of its own self-test. Eio 36 reports that the pulse hardware failed that check. If the pulse is weak or missing, the lock may not seat properly, and a washer-extractor spins with a heavy load at high speed, so the control refuses to begin or continue a cycle. The code remains on the display. The manual lists a pulse circuit on the board that fails its check, a lock solenoid or plug that cannot take the pulse, and a board supply that is weak during the pulse. Eio 31 reports the pulse pin; Eio 36 reports the pulse hardware on the board.
