What does UniMac error code Ed07 mean?

On UniMac UC-series washer-extractors such as the UCH020GNF with the motor drive, Ed07 is a no setup error. The front-end control normally sends the drive a setup packet when the machine starts, which tells the drive how to run the motor. Only after that does the control send movement commands. If the drive receives movement commands without first receiving the setup, it has no instructions for the motor, so it refuses and the cycle stops with Ed07. It is reserved for Design 2 and 3 models. A startup or communication hiccup between the two boards is the likely reason, such as a power interruption just before the cycle began. The manual also lists control and drive software that do not match, and a drive or control board that has failed.

Affected models and control systems

Listed for UniMac UC-series washer-extractors with a motor drive (CHM495R family, 20-100 lb), such as the UCH020GNF, Design 2 and 3 only.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Ed07 on the display when a cycle is started
  • Control starts normally but the drum never turns
  • Code appears right after a power flicker
  • Cycle works on a second try after a full restart

Possible causes

Listed in UniMac's documentation

  • Communication problem between the control and the drive
  • Power interruption just before the cycle began
  • Control and drive software that do not match
  • Drive or control board that has failed

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ed07 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Pressing start while the control is still booting after power returns
  • A marginal connector that drops the setup message but passes later commands
  • A replacement board fitted with software that differs from the other board

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Power the machine down and back up.
  2. Wait for the control to finish starting before pressing start.
  3. Start one cycle and watch whether Ed07 returns.
  4. If it does, call us.
  5. If you see Ed07 on a fresh start, note whether the lights flickered just before.

How a technician diagnoses error code Ed07

  1. Read the code and ask about recent power events, board replacements or service.
  2. Check the control and drive startup sequence and confirm the setup message is sent.
  3. Inspect the communication connections between control and drive for looseness or corrosion.
  4. Compare the software versions on the control and drive with what the model requires.
  5. Replace the mismatched or failed board only after those checks, then run a full start and spin.
! Leave this to a technician
  • The setup exchange happens between two boards powered from the machine's 208-240 V supply, which are inside the cabinet.
  • Software mismatches need the machine's own data and the right replacement parts, not trial and error.
  • A recurring startup hiccup can be a failing board, which is only confirmed by repeated powered tests.

How error code Ed07 differs from similar codes

Ed07 comes from a missing setup message at startup. Ed01 is the loss of the link in general, so the two can look related.

Ed07Questions about UniMac error code Ed07
Why does Ed07 show only after a power flicker?

The drive may have restarted without the control re-sending setup. A full power-down and restart usually resets both.

Is Ed07 the same as Ed01?

No. Ed01 means the two stopped communicating; Ed07 means commands arrived without setup first.

Should I worry if it only happened once?

A single case after a power event is common. Call us if it repeats.
