UniMac Commercial Washer Error Code E d 65: Inverter Signal Failure
E d 65 on a UniMac QN washer-extractor is an inverter hardware acquisition failure on the drive board. Shut the power off at the machine, wait a minute, then power up and try once. If E d 65 shows again, call us because the board needs a test.
High: the drive cannot control the motor without the inverter reading, so the washer stops.
What does UniMac error code E d 65 mean?
The inverter is the stage of the drive that turns DC into the three-phase output that spins the motor. The drive board also takes a reading from that stage, called acquisition, to confirm it is working. E d 65 means the drive could not read a signal from its own inverter stage. Without that reading it cannot control the motor, so it stops. The code clears with a power cycle, but the board problem behind it usually remains, so it needs a test. A failed inverter stage that cannot send its signal is the main cause. A loose connector between the drive board and the motor side, or unstable incoming power disturbing the drive during start-up, can produce the same stop. If it happens only once after a power flicker, the supply was likely the cause.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to UniMac QN washer-extractors of 20 to 100 lb, such as the UCA020QN, in the CHM1792C family with the front-end control and drive board.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E d 65 on the display
- Washer stopping during start-up of a cycle
- Motor not responding after a power restoration
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- A failed inverter stage on the drive board that cannot send its signal
- A loose connector between the drive board and the motor side
- Unstable incoming power disturbing the drive during startup
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E d 65 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- An output transistor that failed after a motor short
- A power flicker that interrupted the drive in the middle of its start-up check
- A board connector corroded by laundry-room moisture
Safe checks before calling for service
- Shut the power off at the machine and let it reset.
- Wait a minute, then power up and try once.
- Leave the cabinet closed.
- Call us when E d 65 shows again.
- Note when the code first showed on the display.
How a technician diagnoses error code E d 65
- Check whether the code appeared after a power flicker or after another motor-related code.
- Measure incoming voltage stability at the disconnect.
- With power locked out and the drive discharged, check the board connectors toward the motor.
- Inspect the inverter stage for burn marks or failed parts.
- Test the motor leads for a short that could have damaged the stage.
- Replace the drive board only after a motor short is ruled out.
- Inverter parts switch heavy current and fail dangerously when tested wrongly.
- A shorted motor can destroy a new board if it is not found first.
- The drive stores charge, so work inside needs a discharge procedure.
How error code E d 65 differs from similar codes
E d 65 is a failed read of the inverter stage, whereas E d 66 is a failed read of the DC bus voltage.

Related UniMac washer error codes
Is the motor bad?
Not necessarily. The drive could not read its own inverter stage, but a motor short can damage that stage, so we test both.
Will it clear with a power cycle?
The display clears. The board problem usually stays and brings it back.
Could a power flicker cause it?
Yes, if it happened once. A repeat points to the board.
