UniMac Commercial Washer Error Code OVERHT: Temperature Input Problem
OVERHT on the WE-6 display means the temperature input circuit is open or shorted, or temperatures are outside the machine's allowable limits. It is non-recoverable. Contact a service technician.
High: the machine cannot trust its temperature input, and the error does not recover.
What does UniMac error code OVERHT mean?
The computer depends on a temperature input to run hot cycles safely. When that input is open, shorted, or reads outside the allowable limits, the computer shows OVERHT. The manual classes it as non-recoverable and says to contact a service technician; there is no Enter or Clear response. Because the computer cannot trust the temperature reading, it will not carry on with a cycle that depends on it. The cause can be the sensor itself, its wiring, or a real temperature outside the limits. This differs from TEMP, where the sensor is working and the temperature has simply gone above the alarm level and can recover once it falls. Because OVERHT may be an electrical problem in the sensor circuit and not a real overheat, it is worth checking the actual water temperature before assuming the tub is dangerously hot. Heated cycles that need a reliable reading are the ones that stop, and the machine will not carry on until a technician has found the open or shorted input or the out-of-limit temperature.

What you may notice
- OVERHT on the display
- The machine stops and will not continue
- The tub water may be hot or cold
- Alarm repeats after restart
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code OVERHT on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Temperature sensor open or shorted
- Sensor wiring damaged or loose
- Actual temperature outside allowable limits
- Temperature input on the computer not reading
Safe checks before calling for service
- Switch the machine off at the control and let the tub cool.
- Do not keep restarting the machine to see whether the alarm goes away.
- Check that nothing is leaking from the tub.
- Keep clear of the area behind the machine.
- Note the display and the cycle that was running, and call.
How a technician diagnoses error code OVERHT
- Read OVERHT and the cycle step.
- Check the real temperature against the reading.
- Measure the sensor resistance with power off and compare it with temperature.
- Inspect the sensor wiring and connector.
- Test the computer input, then replace the failing part.
- The sensor wiring runs to the computer at line-voltage cabinet areas.
- A sensor must be proven with a meter and a reference thermometer.
- The hot water and heating system can scald.
How error code OVERHT differs from similar codes
OVERHT is a non-recoverable input problem. TEMP is a recoverable over-temperature limit.

Is OVERHT the same as TEMP?
No. TEMP means a limit was exceeded and can recover. OVERHT concerns the temperature input and does not.
Can I clear it with Enter?
No. The manual says to contact a service technician.
Is the water actually overheated?
Not necessarily. The sensor circuit may be open or shorted.
