Nor-Lake LogiTemp Walk-In Error Code Pdt: Pump-Down Timeout
Pdt is a pump-down timeout alarm on Nor-Lake LogiTemp walk-ins using LPCO control, meaning the system took too long to pump down to the cut-out pressure. The compressor may run longer than normal. Write down the code and LED color, record the box temperature and do not touch the refrigeration lines.
Medium: the box may still cool, but the compressor runs longer than it should.

What does Nor-Lake error code Pdt mean?
On a walk-in using LPCO control, the system stops with a pump-down. The liquid valve closes, the compressor keeps running and pulls the refrigerant out of the evaporator until suction pressure drops to the low pressure cut-out. The compressor then stops. If the cut-out pressure is not reached in the allowed time, the low pressure cut-out time was exceeded, and the display shows Pdt. The compressor may run longer than normal, which wastes energy and wears it. What stops pressure from falling can be a liquid valve that leaks through and keeps feeding the evaporator, a compressor that is not pumping well, a low pressure control with a wrong setting, or a suction pressure sensor that reads wrongly. Each of these can look the same at the box, so a technician needs the pressures and the valve state to tell them apart. The display alone cannot say which one it is, and the operator can only watch the temperature and report what was heard.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to LogiTemp KE2 controllers on Nor-Lake Split-Pak walk-ins that use LPCO (low pressure cut-out) control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Pdt on the display
- Compressor running much longer after the box reaches temperature
- Compressor noise that does not stop
- Suction line staying colder than usual
Possible causes
Listed in Nor-Lake's documentation
- Liquid line solenoid valve that does not seal
- Compressor not pumping well
- Low pressure control or its setting
- Suction pressure sensor reading wrongly
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Pdt on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Solenoid seat scored by debris so liquid leaks past it
- Worn compressor valves unable to pull the pressure down
- Cut-out pressure set too low for the refrigerant in use
Safe checks before calling for service
- Write down the code and the LED color.
- Read the box with a thermometer and write the number down.
- Listen for the compressor running very long and tell us what you hear.
- Please do not touch the refrigeration lines or open any panels.
How a technician diagnoses error code Pdt
- Read Pdt and the cut-out and cut-in settings.
- Connect gauges and watch suction pressure during pump-down.
- Check whether the liquid line solenoid closes and seals.
- Check the compressor's pumping ability.
- Verify the suction sensor against gauges, then adjust or replace the failing part.
- Gauges on the refrigerant circuit and valve tests require certification.
- A leaking solenoid and a weak compressor need pressure tests to be told apart.
- The solenoid and compressor are wired to live line voltage.
How error code Pdt differs from similar codes
LPA means pressure is already below the cut-out. Pdt means the system took too long to reach it.

Does Pdt mean the compressor is failing?
Not necessarily. A leaking liquid valve is just as likely.
Can I keep running the box?
For a short time. A compressor that runs too long wears out, so call soon.
Is Pdt the same as LPA?
No. LPA is a low suction pressure. Pdt is a slow pump-down.
