The MCL pass-thru and glass-door cabinets are McCall refrigerators with doors on both sides or glass fronts. Thirty numbers are listed, such as 1-1020P, 2-2020P and 4-4020P. The P marks the pass-thru version. They use a mechanical control or a digital thermometer.

We check the gaskets on both doors, since a pass-thru gets double the use, then the condenser and the control. A glass-door cabinet shows its contents to customers, so a fogged door or a warm shelf is easy to see. A leaking gasket is the usual cause of fog.

What does the P in the number mean?

P marks a pass-thru cabinet, with doors on both sides. We check both sets of gaskets and hinges. A pass-thru has a second door and a second hinge set that we check as well.

Why does the glass door fog?

A gasket that leaks lets warm humid air meet the cold glass. We replace the gasket and check the door fit. We also check that the door hangs square, because a droop at one corner lets air slip past.

Do you replace thermometers on these cabinets?

Yes. If the display is wrong or blank, we check the fuse, the switch and the probe wire, and we calibrate or replace the module.
