Perlick Undercounters, Back Bars and Columns

Our Perlick work covers HB, HC and HD 24-inch undercounters and the HC 48-inch model, which include refrigerators, wine reserves and freezers. It also covers back bar equipment such as the BBR, BBS, PTR, SDBR, SDP, DZS and DDC models, and the CR24D and CC24D column refrigerators. The undercounters use a digital LED controller with an alarm light and a defrost light, and they defrost with hot gas every four hours. The HC24FS defrosts manually on a six-hour cycle.

The controller flashes codes that we read right away. E1 is the compartment probe, E2 is the evaporator probe, AH1 is a high compartment temperature, AL1 is a low one, and OPd is an open door. An audible alarm sounds on any of them.

Why Bars Are Hard on Refrigerators

Doors open all night, ice and spills reach the louvers, and warm bottles go in by the case. Perlick rates its heat rejection at 75 degrees F, and a humid bar room, as in Miami and Houston, adds condensation on top of that. We check the condenser and louvers, door gaskets and switch, probes, defrost and control settings.

The HB, HC and HD undercounters use R600a, a flammable refrigerant, so we take special care with the sealed system. On older bar coolers we are honest about repair against replacement, and our price is in writing before work, with a 30-day workmanship warranty.

FAQPerlick questions
What does a flashing E1 mean on my Perlick?

A flashing E1 means the controller has a problem with the compartment temperature probe. The cabinet can run too warm or too cold without a good reading. We test the probe and its wiring.

Why does my Perlick undercounter show OPd?

OPd is the open door alarm. A door left ajar, a worn gasket or a stuck door switch plunger can cause it. We check all three and clear the alarm once the door seals properly.

Is condensation on my back bar cooler a problem?

Some is normal in a humid room, but heavy condensation points to a gasket, door position or temperature setting. We check the seals and settings and tell you what we find.
