The Dean Fryers We Repair
Dean fryers are workhorses, and plenty of them are on their second or third owner. The GF14 holds 40 lb of oil and the GF40 holds 50 lb; both are millivolt gas fryers with the thermostat knob inside the door. The Super Runner line covers economy gas tube fryers in 40, 50 and 75 lb sizes, plus the SR114E electric. We also repair Decathlon gas fryers with built-in filtration, PowerRunner PRG50T fryers, and the older SR42, SR52 and SR62 Super Runners.
A millivolt Dean needs no outside power and has no display codes, so we work from the pilot, the thermostat and the gas valve. If the burner will not light, we start with a dirty pilot, dirty thermostat or gas valve terminals, then move to the gas supply. Delayed ignition and rolling flame usually point to clogged orifices or too little make-up air in the kitchen.
Grease, Heat and Aging Fryers
Grease dust settles on pilots and orifices quickly in any hot kitchen. The GF14 and GF40 also need clear space between the flue outlet and the hood filters, so when one lights poorly we look at how the hood is set up. An electric Dean that will not heat most often sends us to the drain valve, which must be fully closed, and then to the drain safety switch. If the oil runs too hot or too cool, we compare the thermostat against a thermometer.
On an older Dean we tell you directly when the parts cost more than the fryer is worth. Our repairs carry a 30-day warranty.

Yes. We work on the older SR42, SR52 and SR62 millivolt fryers as well as current ones. Their controls are simple, so many repairs make sense, and we say so plainly when one does not.
My Dean fryer has no display. How do you diagnose it?
Millivolt Dean fryers have no display and no error codes. We test the pilot, thermostat, thermocouple signal and gas valve in turn until we find the cause.
Why does my electric Dean fryer not heat?
Push the drain valve all the way closed, because the drain safety switch cuts the heat otherwise. If it still will not heat, call us and we will test the switch and the rest of the heating circuit.
