Vulcan Commercial Fryer Repair
We repair Vulcan gas and electric fryers in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego, from PowerFry3 TR and PowerFry5 VK models to GR, QuickFry and older units. We read the control first, then quote the price in writing.
Common Vulcan fryers problems
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
No heat from the fryer
Ignition lockout alarm
Open or shorted probe message
Too little or too much heat
Tank will not drain
Filter pump will not pump oil
Vulcan gas fryers come in several families. The PowerFry3 TR and PowerFry5 VK freestanding fryers are made in 50, 70 and 90 lb sizes with one to six vats and KleenScreen PLUS filtration. Their controls are Solid State Analog, Computer or Solid State Digital with a melt cycle. We also repair the QuickFry VHG50 and VHG70, GR series fryers, core-series fryers such as the VEG35M and VEG50M, ER, JEF and CEF electric fryers, and the Frymate dump stations.
The VK fryers plug into 120 volts and use spark-to-ground ignition, which is picky about tolerance. If a GFI device is required, the right part matters, so we confirm it. A harmonic hum at first start in low fire is normal, and the burner goes to high fire after the melt cycle ends at 135 degrees F. The temperature probe is an RTD, and only the Solid State Digital and Computer models show error codes. Heat is disabled at 415 degrees F.
When there is no heat, we check the power switch, gas supply and high limit first. A filter pump that will not move oil often has cold shortening, a clogged screen or a tripped overload, and a tank that will not drain has a clogged drain pipe. Older Vulcan fryers get an honest repair-or-replace answer, and our work carries a 30-day warranty.

A harmonic hum at first start in low fire is normal. The burner moves to high fire after the melt cycle reaches 135 degrees F. If the hum is loud or the fryer will not light, call us.
What does an ignition lockout alarm mean on a Vulcan fryer?
The control did not get a flame, often from low or no gas. Check that the gas is on. If you smell gas, everyone leaves the building and the gas utility is called from outside. Otherwise call us for ignition tests.
Why will my Vulcan fryer's filter pump not move oil?
Cold shortening, a clogged screen or a tripped thermal overload are the usual causes. Warm the oil first and clear the screen if you can reach it. If the pump still stops, call us.
