Nor-Lake Walk-In Error Code Ld2: Low Monitor Temp 2 Alarm

Ld2 on a Nor-Lake Split-Pak walk-in with a LogiTemp or KE2 Evap controller means monitor temperature 2 is below its low alarm setpoint for longer than the delay. Check what the monitor point measures. The manual's Troubleshooting Tables give the corrective actions.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: a monitored point is colder than its limit, which can damage product in a cooler.

What does Nor-Lake error code Ld2 mean?

Ld2 is the Low Mon2 Temp Alarm in the Alarms and Notifications list of the LogiTemp controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak systems. Monitor 2 is one of the controller's extra monitoring points, and it carries a low alarm setpoint and a delay of its own. If the reading stays below the setpoint for the whole delay, the display shows Ld2 with LOW MONITOR TEMP2. The manual entry says only this. It does not locate the sensor, list causes or give steps, and sends the reader to the Troubleshooting Tables from page 52. A low monitor reading in a cooler can mean product at risk of freezing, and in a freezer it may simply be an unusually deep reading. Whether the alarm is a concern depends on what the monitor point watches, so the installation record is the first place to look.

Affected models and control systems

Ld2 is listed for the LogiTemp and KE2 Evap OEM controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak refrigeration systems with A1 refrigerants, in the Alarms and Notifications list printed on pages 48-52. The low setpoint and delay belong to monitor 2.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Ld2 or LOW MONITOR TEMP2 on the display
  • Monitor 2 reading below its setpoint
  • Product near the evaporator freezing in a cooler

Possible causes

Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Ld2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • Monitor temperature 2 below its low alarm setpoint for longer than the delay
  • Evaporator running too cold because a defrost or fan setting is wrong
  • Monitor sensor reading lower than the real temperature
  • Low alarm setpoint set too close to normal operation

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Check the main box temperature on the display.
  2. Look for items touching or blocking the evaporator that could be freezing.
  3. Do not change any settings.
  4. Check food that sits near the evaporator.
  5. Write down the Ld2 reading and the box reading, for the technician.

How a technician diagnoses error code Ld2

  1. Read the alarm and the monitor 2 value.
  2. Identify what monitor 2 measures here.
  3. Verify the sensor with a reference thermometer.
  4. Check the compressor cycling and evaporator behavior.
  5. Check the low alarm setpoint and delay.
  6. Compare the findings with the manual's Troubleshooting Tables.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Cooling system tests involve line voltage and refrigerant circuits.
  • Monitor setpoints are service settings.
  • A wrong sensor reading can only be proven with a reference instrument.
