Nor-Lake Walk-In Error Code LCA: Low Condenser Temp Alarm
LCA on a Nor-Lake Split-Pak walk-in with a LogiTemp or KE2 Evap controller means condenser temperature has been below its setpoint minus offset for longer than the delay. The manual's Troubleshooting Tables give the corrective actions.
Low: the condenser reads colder than expected; the system is not stopped by this alarm alone.

What does Nor-Lake error code LCA mean?
LCA is the Low Cond Temp alarm in the Alarms and Notifications list of the LogiTemp controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak systems. The controller subtracts an offset from the condenser setpoint, and if the condenser temperature reading stays below that value for longer than the delay, it shows LCA with LOW COND TEMP. The manual gives the meaning and refers to the Troubleshooting Tables from page 52. It gives no causes. A low condenser temperature is unusual for a running system and tends to be seen in cold weather on outdoor units, or when the unit is idle. The code can also appear if the condenser sensor itself reads low. The list does not say which, so a technician has to compare the sensor with a reference thermometer. A condenser that is too cold can leave the system with weak head pressure, which affects how well the cooling works.
Affected models and control systems
LCA is listed for the LogiTemp and KE2 Evap OEM controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak refrigeration systems with A1 refrigerants, in the Alarms and Notifications list printed on pages 48-52. These three values are programmed in the controller.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- LCA or LOW COND TEMP on the display
- Outdoor condensing unit very cold
- Cooling that is uneven
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code LCA on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Condenser temperature below its setpoint minus offset for longer than the delay
- Cold outdoor weather lowering condenser temperature
- Condenser sensor reading lower than the real temperature
- Condenser fan control running the fan too hard in cool air
Safe checks before calling for service
- Note the outdoor temperature around the condensing unit.
- Note the box temperature the main display shows.
- Check for snow or ice around the unit without opening it.
- Do not change settings.
- Write down LCA, the weather and the time, for the technician.
How a technician diagnoses error code LCA
- Read the alarm and condenser temperature.
- Compare the condenser sensor with a reference thermometer.
- Check fan control and head pressure.
- Check low ambient controls if fitted.
- Check setpoint, offset and delay.
- Work through the matching Troubleshooting Tables row.
- Head pressure and fan control checks involve gauges and line voltage.
- Condenser setpoints are service settings.
- Low-ambient control parts may need adjusting.
How error code LCA differs from similar codes
LCA is the low counterpart of HCA on the same controller.

Does LCA happen in winter?
It can for an outdoor unit. Mention the weather to the technician.
Will LCA clear itself?
When the condenser temperature rises above the limit.
Is LCA dangerous for the compressor?
The manual does not say so; low head pressure can still affect cooling.
