AccuTemp Steamer Error Code High Water Light: Over-Fill Float Raised
The High Water (Over-Fill) light and alarm mean the float ball in the chamber has risen onto the over-fill reed switch, so there is too much water and heating is held off. Do not open the door; turn the unit off and drain water out through the drain valve until the alarm stops. If it returns, a technician should check the level, probes and float.
Medium: heating stops until the level drops, but draining is a simple operator step and nothing else is disabled.

What does AccuTemp High Water mean?
The Evolution electric steamer has a float ball in the steam chamber that rides up and down with the water. A reed switch sits at the top of its travel, and when the ball lifts to that point the control treats the chamber as over-filled. It turns on the High Water indicator and the alarm, and it holds heating off until the level drops, because boiling an overfull chamber can push water into the cooking compartment. The manual describes the display as High Water (Over-Fill) indicator light ON, with alarm. A chamber that reads high is often a physical issue: a steamer that is not level lets the water pile up on one side, a fill stream that strikes the right wall can lift the float, and dirty probes or a sticky float or peg can leave the ball stuck high. When none of that applies, the reed switch or control relay 1 may be the failed part.
Affected models and control systems
Evolution electric steamers (manual SP8026-2508). The text we read does not name individual model numbers, so the manual title is the reference.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- High Water (Over-Fill) light lit with an alarm sounding
- Steamer will not heat
- Water standing higher than usual in the chamber
- Alarm returns soon after you drain the chamber
Possible causes
Listed in AccuTemp's documentation
- Unit not level, within a 1/2 inch margin
- Dirty water probes
- Float ball or its peg dirty or defective
- Reed switch or control relay 1 failure
- Excess incoming water pressure
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind High Water on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Steamer on the top of a stack, where a small tilt matters most
- Fill stream splashing the right chamber wall and lifting the float ball early
- Mineral buildup on the peg that keeps the float up
Safe checks before calling for service
- Do not open the door while the High Water alarm is on.
- Turn the steamer off.
- Open the drain valve and let water out until the High Water alarm turns off, then close the valve.
- Check the unit is level front to back and side to side with a level on the cooking surface; a 1/2 inch error can cause the alarm, especially on the top steamer in a stack.
- Note whether the alarm came back after draining, and how soon.
How a technician diagnoses High Water
- Confirm the unit is level and correct the feet or stack height.
- Reduce the incoming water pressure if the fill stream hits the right wall of the chamber.
- Clean both water probes and inspect the float ball and peg.
- Check control relay 1 at terminals 7 and 8, which should read about 160 ohms.
- Test the reed switch as the float moves.
- Replace the reed switch, relay or float only after those readings show which part is out of range.
- Opening the door on an overfull, hot chamber exposes you to scalding water and steam.
- Measuring relay terminals 7 and 8 needs a meter and access behind the panel, close to mains wiring.

Is it safe to open the door when High Water is lit?
No. The manual says not to open the door; drain the chamber with the unit off first.
Why does the alarm come back after I drain it?
A steamer that is out of level, a fill stream hitting the wall, or a stuck float will fill the chamber past the reed switch again. Draining removes the water, not the cause.
Is High Water the same as the Low Water light?
No. Low Water means the sensors are dry and the fill is needed; High Water means the float has risen and water must come out.
