Vulcan Steamer and Kettle Repair
We repair Vulcan electric steamers and gas kettles in Miami, Los Angeles, Houston, New York and San Diego, from C24ET low water energy steamers to GS, GL and GT kettles. We find the cause and write the price down before any work begins.
Common Vulcan steamers & kettles problems
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Steamer will not fill with water
No steam or not heating
Low-water probe problems
Gas kettle will not light
Scale on water level probes
Steam leaking at the door gasket
Most Vulcan steamers we see are C24ET electric floor convection steamers in six and ten pan sizes, including the LWE low water energy versions and PowerSteam variants. Each compartment has a 60-minute timer with a buzzer and Cook and Ready lights, and the LWE models add a PID controller. The C24EA-LWE is an electric counter steamer. Older Vulcan gas and electric counter and convection steamers, such as the VL, VHL and VSX series and the C24EO3, C24GA5 and C24GA10, are still cooking in many kitchens.
Hard water leaves scale on the water level probes, which is the first thing we check when a steamer will not fill or the LWE probes act up. That is a bigger issue in Houston, Los Angeles and San Diego, where the water is often hard. If a steamer makes no steam, we test the elements and the PID controller. Door gasket leaks are a wear item and easy to spot.
The GS, GL and GT gas kettles are fully steam jacketed, from 40 to 150 gal, with a 15 psi relief valve. They use a thermostat with a combination gas valve and electronic ignition, plus a low water cut-off and a pressure limit switch. A kettle that will not light leads us to the ignition system and those safety devices. Older units get an honest answer on repair versus replacement, with a written price and a 30-day warranty on our work.

Scale on the water level probes is the usual reason, and the LWE models rely on those probes. Check that the water supply is open. Then call us, and we clean and test the probes.
Can you fix an older Vulcan gas steamer?
Yes. We repair older Vulcan counter and convection steamers still in service. We check the burner, controls and water system, and we tell you plainly when a repair is not worth the cost.
What should I do if my Vulcan gas kettle will not light?
Make sure the gas supply is on. If you smell gas, leave the kitchen and call the utility from outside. If there is no gas smell, call us, and we test the electronic ignition, gas valve and safety switches.
