Groen Equipment We Service
Groen steamers and kettles run in school, hospital and restaurant kitchens, and we repair a good share of them. The steamer families include HyPerSteam generator steamers in electric and gas, HyPlus boiler-based pressureless steamers, the SmartSteam Pro boilerless and connectionless line with a 4.3 inch touchscreen, and the Intek XS connectionless countertop steamer. Older SmartSteam 100 SSB-5G boilerless steamers and early HY-5G and HY-6 units still work too. For kettles we service floor and table-top models in gas, electric and direct steam, tilting and stationary, plus cooker-mixers.
First Checks on a Groen Steamer
If the steam generator will not fill, we look at the ON switch, the water supply and a clogged screen. The HY-6E needs at least 30 psi of water pressure, so a weak supply line can pass for a bad part. When the service light comes on after four minutes, or the high limit light stays on, the generator is usually limed up, though an open door can trigger the same light. Hard water makes a delime schedule worth having, particularly in Los Angeles, San Diego and Houston. SmartSteam Pro lets you program one and stores error codes for five days, which helps when you call us.
Kettle calls center on heating, tilt and gas ignition. The Classic, Advanced and Cook2Temp controls on tilting kettles are wash-down rated, but cleaning water still works its way into connectors over time. We tell you plainly when an older steamer is not worth fixing, give a written price before work, and back every repair with a 30-day warranty.

Scale in the steam generator is the usual cause. Check that the water supply is on and the doors are shut, then call us and we will delime and test the sensors and the high limit.
Do you repair older Groen steamers like the SmartSteam 100?
Yes. We work on SmartSteam 100 SSB-5G boilerless steamers and early HyPerSteam units. If an older steamer is not worth repairing, we tell you before you spend money on parts.
Does my Groen kettle need a technician for tilt problems?
Tilt problems can come from the mechanism or the controls, and both need testing. Keep the kettle empty and cool, and give us the model number so we bring matching parts.
