Five Kinds of Vulcan Equipment

Vulcan equipment is common in restaurant kitchens, and we service five kinds of it. The V Series heavy-duty ranges and the Endurance restaurant ranges are gas. The VC gas convection ovens, such as the VC4GD and VC6GC, and the electric VC4ED and VC5ED, make up our oven work. We also repair Vulcan fryers, griddles, and steamers and kettles.

Reading E Codes and Ignition Trouble

On a VC gas convection oven the temperature display shows E codes. E1 and E2 send us to the temperature probe, E3 to a call for heat with no temperature rise, E4 to an overheated control board, and E7 to the ignition signal. A clogged rear air intake is a common reason for an E4, so we clear it and check the board. If the ignition light stays on for more than 20 seconds after three tries, we shut the gas valve, wait five minutes, and then check the gas supply and valves. On ranges we look at pilots, burner ports and oven thermostat calibration.

Kitchen Wear and Older Units

Grease, heat and humidity wear on igniters, control boards and valves. We repair older Vulcan models and say plainly when a repair costs more than it is worth. We confirm parts before the visit, give a written price before work starts, and include a 30-day workmanship warranty.

FAQVulcan questions
What does an E4 mean on my Vulcan convection oven?

On a VC gas oven, E4 means the control board is above its rated temperature. A clogged rear air intake is a common reason. We clear the intake and test the board before suggesting any part.

My Vulcan oven ignition light stays on but the oven will not heat. What now?

If the ignition light stays on more than 20 seconds after three tries, turn off the oven and wait five minutes. Do not keep retrying. If the oven still fails, call us to check the gas supply and valves.

Do you repair older Vulcan ranges?

Yes. We repair V Series and Endurance ranges, including older units. Pilot trouble, uneven burner flames and oven thermostat drift are the jobs we see most.

Which Vulcan equipment do you service besides ovens?

We service Vulcan fryers, griddles, and steamers and kettles, as well as ranges and convection ovens. Give us the model number when you book, and we confirm the right parts beforehand.
