Nor-Lake Walk-In Error Code Hd2: High Monitor Temp 2 Alarm
Hd2 on a Nor-Lake Split-Pak walk-in with a LogiTemp or KE2 Evap controller means monitor temperature 2 is above its high alarm setpoint for longer than the delay. Check what the monitor point measures and whether the box is cooling. The manual's Troubleshooting Tables give the actions.
High: a monitored temperature is above its limit, so stored product may be at risk.

What does Nor-Lake error code Hd2 mean?
Hd2 is the High Mon2 Temp Alarm in the Alarms and Notifications list of the LogiTemp controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak systems. The controller can track extra monitoring points, labeled monitor 1, 2 and 3, using the auxiliary sensors of the combo display. Monitor temperature 2 has its own high alarm setpoint and delay. When the reading stays above the setpoint for longer than the delay, Hd2 appears with the text HIGH MONITOR TEMP2. The manual does not say where the monitor 2 sensor is placed, so the page cannot tell which part of the box or product it follows. It also gives no causes, leaving corrective actions to the Troubleshooting Tables from page 52. What it does tell us is that the monitored point is warmer than the owner or installer allowed.
Affected models and control systems
Hd2 is listed for the LogiTemp and KE2 Evap OEM controller on Nor-Lake Split-Pak refrigeration systems with A1 refrigerants, in the Alarms and Notifications list printed on pages 48-52. The setpoint and delay are settings for monitor 2.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Hd2 or HIGH MONITOR TEMP2 on the display
- Monitor 2 reading above its setpoint
- Possibly a warm spot in the box or product
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Hd2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Monitor temperature 2 above its high alarm setpoint for longer than the delay
- Door open too long or poorly sealed near the monitored point
- Evaporator not cooling the box because of ice or fan failure
- Alarm setpoint set close to the normal operating temperature
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the walk-in door is closed and sealed.
- Look at the box temperature on the main display.
- Check whether product is blocking airflow near the evaporator.
- Move at-risk food if the box is warm.
- Write down the Hd2 reading, the box reading and when it began, for the technician.
How a technician diagnoses error code Hd2
- Read the alarm and the monitor 2 value.
- Identify what monitor 2 measures on this installation.
- Check the box temperature with a reference thermometer.
- Check evaporator fans, defrost and the compressor operation.
- Check the alarm setpoint and delay settings.
- Follow the manual's Troubleshooting Tables entry for this code.
- Cooling system tests involve line voltage and refrigerant circuits.
- Monitor setpoints and delays are service settings.
- Which sensor is monitor 2 depends on the installation.
How error code Hd2 differs from similar codes
Hd2 is the high alarm for monitor 2; Ld2 is the low alarm for the same point, and Hd3 and Ld3 are the pair for monitor 3.

If the monitor point is product or box temperature, yes. Check food temperature.
Will Hd2 clear on its own?
When the temperature falls under the setpoint, it should.
Is Hd2 the same as dt2?
No. Dt2 is a sensor failure, while Hd2 is a high temperature reading.
