Speed Queen Washer Error Code E:05: Invalid Value Sent
E:05 on older EDC topload washers means a value sent through the Micro-wand IIIe was not accepted by the control. The washer keeps its old settings. Look over what you loaded into the wand, correct anything unusual, and send it again.
Low: a rejected programming value; wash cycles are unaffected.

What does Speed Queen error code E:05 mean?
When a program or option is loaded through the Micro-wand IIIe, the control checks each value against what it can accept. A number outside the allowed range, or a setting the control does not recognize, is refused. E:05 reports that refusal as an invalid value communicated (display text: E:05). The control protects itself in this way so a bad entry cannot change how the washer behaves. Because the data was never accepted, the washer keeps the settings it already had, and the wash circuits are not involved at all. The manual lists three places to look: the program or option values that were sent, the file loaded in the wand, and the control version. A file made for a different model of control can contain values this one does not accept. Many of these older timer-type toploads are still in service, and we repair them. If a corrected load still fails, the issue is usually in what is stored in the wand or in which control it was made for.
Affected models and control systems
Older Speed Queen timer-type topload washers with the EDC electronic control (Micro-wand IIIe programming). Newer Quantum washers use a different code set.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Program or option values outside what the control accepts
- A file loaded in the wand that does not suit this control
- A control version that does not support the sent values
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E:05 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A wand file copied from a newer or different washer model
- A mistyped entry in one option during the wand setup
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look over the settings you loaded into the Micro-wand IIIe.
- Correct anything that looks unusual and send the exchange again.
- Keep the wand aimed at the communicator until it finishes.
- If E:05 returns, contact us and write down the values you were trying to send.
How a technician diagnoses error code E:05
- Confirm E:05 follows a wand load, not a wash step.
- Review the values in the wand against this control's allowed ranges.
- Identify the control version and compare it with the file's origin.
- Reload one setting at a time to find the value being rejected.
- Check the control only after the file and values are proven good.
- Choosing correct values for a machine's settings requires the machine's own original data.
- A wrong file loaded repeatedly can write the wrong options into the control.
- Identifying the control version means opening the control housing at line voltage.
How error code E:05 differs from similar codes
E:05 is about a rejected value, while E:00, E:01 and E:02 are about the wand link itself.
