Speed Queen Washer Error Code E:0A: Wand Not Aimed Properly
E:0A on older EDC topload washers is a third kind of proximity error. The Micro-wand IIIe was not aimed properly at the control's infra-red communicator, and the exchange did not complete. The washer keeps its settings.
Low: only the wand conversation is lost; washing continues.

What does Speed Queen error code E:0A mean?
The code is part of a family of wand messages on older EDC topload washers. The Micro-wand IIIe has to be aimed at the infra-red window on the control before any information can pass. When the control cannot find the wand's signal, it reports a proximity problem, and E:0A is one of the numbers used (display text: E:0A). The wash circuits are not what the code describes, and the washer keeps its settings, so the only thing lost is the wand conversation you were attempting. The manual lists three ideas: a wand aimed off to one side of the communicator, a wand held at too great a distance, and a low wand battery. The remedy is the same as for the others in the group, but it is useful to know which number came up, because we can match it to the manual if the wand keeps failing. This timer-type topload is an older machine that is still in service; we repair it.
Affected models and control systems
Older Speed Queen timer-type topload washers with the EDC electronic control (Micro-wand IIIe programming). Newer Quantum washers use a different code set.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E:0A on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A control window with a crack or yellowed lens that scatters the signal
- A wand with a damaged emitter after being dropped
Safe checks before calling for service
- Aim the Micro-wand at the communicator, as the owner's manual says.
- Hold it steady until the exchange ends.
- Wipe the communicator window with a dry cloth and try again.
- If E:0A returns, ask us to schedule service and write down the code exactly.
How a technician diagnoses error code E:0A
- Confirm E:0A and compare it with other wand codes the control has shown.
- Test the wand on a known good machine with fresh batteries.
- Check the control window for damage.
- Repeat the exchange with a measured aim at close range.
- Examine the receiver only after the wand and window have been cleared.
- The receiver is inside the control housing, which carries line voltage.
- A wand that works on another machine is needed to prove where the problem lies.
- Rewriting settings has to be matched to the washer's own recorded values.
How error code E:0A differs from similar codes
E:0A sits with E:01 and E:09 as a proximity entry; E:0B and E:0C are the disconnections.
