Speed Queen Washer Error Code E:0C: Infra-Red Link Dropped
E:0C on older EDC topload washers is a further infra-red disconnection. The connection from the Micro-wand IIIe to the control's communicator dropped partway through. Normal washing is unchanged, so just repeat the exchange with a steady hand.
Low: only the wand transfer fails; the washer runs normally.

What does Speed Queen error code E:0C mean?
Nothing about this message concerns water, spinning or the lid. It belongs to the group of wand codes on older EDC topload washers, and it reports that the infra-red connection from the Micro-wand IIIe to the control's communicator was lost before the exchange finished (display text: E:0C). The control watches the link for the whole transfer. If the signal vanishes midway, it keeps the settings it had before the attempt, and nothing about normal operation changes while the code is shown. The manual points to three ideas: a wand that slipped out of position midway, a wand battery too weak to finish the transfer, and a foggy or dirty communicator window. In a humid laundry room, a film on the window is more likely than it sounds. If your laundry still has an older timer-type topload, we can repair it. A second attempt, with the wand held square to the window and not moved until the end, is the normal answer.
Affected models and control systems
Older Speed Queen timer-type topload washers with the EDC electronic control (Micro-wand IIIe programming). Newer Quantum washers use a different code set.

Possible causes
Listed in Speed Queen's documentation
- Wand slipped out of position midway
- Wand battery too weak to finish the transfer
- Foggy or dirty communicator window
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E:0C on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Condensation on the control window after a hot, steamy wash day
- A wand with a worn battery clip that loses contact at the end of the transfer
Safe checks before calling for service
- Keep the infra-red connection until the exchange ends, as the owner's manual says.
- Try the exchange again with a steady hand.
- Wipe the communicator window with a dry cloth.
- If E:0C returns, ask for a technician and tell us roughly when in the transfer it stopped.
How a technician diagnoses error code E:0C
- Confirm E:0C and note when the link drops.
- Swap the wand battery and try a second wand.
- Clean and inspect the control window.
- Repeat the transfer with the wand supported.
- Examine the control receiver only after the tool and window pass.
- The infra-red receiver lives in the control housing with line voltage present.
- A wand that fails on one washer and works on another points the diagnosis, and only a technician carries a known good one.
- Any setting rewritten must match what was stored before.
How error code E:0C differs from similar codes
E:0C is one of three disconnection numbers, with E:02 and E:0B; each is listed on its own line in the manual.
