Speed Queen Washer Error Code E:0d: Pressure Switch Error
E:0d on older EDC topload washers is a pressure switch error. The control did not get the level reading it expects during fill or drain, so the washer stops its cycle. Check the hoses for kinks and make sure both faucets are open.
Medium: the washer stops its cycle, though a hose or faucet is often the cause.

What does Speed Queen error code E:0d mean?
A topload washer knows how much water is in the tub from a pressure switch, which senses the air pressure in a small tube connected to the tub. During fill, the control waits for the switch to report the set level before it stops the water, and during drain it waits for the level to fall. If the switch does not report what the control expects at the time it should, the control cannot trust the water level and posts E:0d (display text: E:0d). It then stops the cycle rather than fill or run blind. The manual points at the fill and drain hoses, the pressure switch tubing, the fill valve circuit, and the pressure switch itself. A kinked hose or a closed faucet slows water, and a pinched tube changes the pressure the switch sees. This line is an older timer-type topload that remains in service, and repairs are part of what we do. Keep hands out of the drum until the lid lock lets go.
Affected models and control systems
Older Speed Queen timer-type topload washers with the EDC electronic control (Micro-wand IIIe programming). Newer Quantum washers use a different code set.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E:0d on the display
- The washer stops during fill or drain
- Water level looks too low or too high for the cycle
Possible causes
Listed in Speed Queen's documentation
- Kinked fill or drain hose
- Blocked or pinched pressure switch tubing
- Fill valve circuit not working
- Pressure switch not reporting level
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E:0d on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A hard-water mineral scale that has partly closed the pressure tube end
- A hose pushed against the wall when the washer was moved
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look at the fill and drain hoses for kinks, as the owner's manual says.
- Make sure both water faucets are open.
- Keep your hands out of the drum until the lid lock lets go.
- If E:0d returns, call us and tell us whether it happened while filling or draining.
How a technician diagnoses error code E:0d
- Read E:0d and note whether it occurs on fill or drain.
- Check the fill and drain hoses and the supply pressure.
- Inspect the pressure tube and its port for blockage or cracks.
- Measure the fill valve coil and its voltage supply.
- Test the pressure switch contacts against the water level, and replace only the part that fails.
- The fill valve and pressure switch circuits carry line voltage and need live checks with the cabinet open.
- Pressure switch tubing is easy to disturb, and a wrong replacement can cause overflow.
- Watching a fill with the lid unlocked is a risk near the spinning drum.
How error code E:0d differs from similar codes
E:0d is a water-level code; the E:00 to E:0C group in this table are wand and communication messages.

Related Speed Queen washer error codes
Is E:0d the same as the other E:0 codes?
No. Most of the group concern the programming wand; E:0d concerns the water level switch.
Can I keep running the washer?
No. Stop it until the water supply and hoses are cleared.
Will opening the faucets fix it?
If a faucet was closed, yes. Otherwise the hoses or switch are involved.
