Speed Queen Washer Error Code E:0F: Infra-Red Programmed Off
E:0F on older EDC topload washers means the infra-red communicator was programmed off. The control does not answer the Micro-wand IIIe because the option is turned off. The washer keeps washing, and the option can be turned back on.
Low: a setting message; the washer keeps washing.

What does Speed Queen error code E:0F mean?
This message is not a malfunction at all. The control has a setting that decides whether it will listen to the Micro-wand IIIe through its infra-red window. If that setting is off, the control ignores the wand, and when someone tries to use one it posts E:0F (display text: E:0F). A laundry may switch the option off on purpose, to keep outsiders from changing prices or cycles through the wand. It can also be changed by accident or by a different attendant, so the washer is working exactly as programmed. The manual's answer is to reprogram the infra-red communicator on, which can be done through the control's own programming. The possibilities it lists are the setting, whether it was turned off on purpose, and the control settings in general. Older timer-type toploads stay in service for years, and we keep them working. Wash cycles are unaffected the entire time.
Affected models and control systems
Older Speed Queen timer-type topload washers with the EDC electronic control (Micro-wand IIIe programming). Newer Quantum washers use a different code set.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

Safe checks before calling for service
- Reprogram the infra-red communicator on, as the owner's manual says.
- Re-aim the Micro-wand IIIe and try again.
- If you cannot find the option, ask us to schedule service.
- Tell us who changed the setting last, if you know.
How a technician diagnoses error code E:0F
- Confirm E:0F appears only when the wand is used.
- Check the infra-red option in the control's programming.
- Ask the owner whether the option was disabled on purpose.
- Turn the option on and test a wand exchange.
- Check the control receiver only if the exchange still fails with the option on.
- The programming option sits inside the control's own menu, and settings can change how the machine charges customers.
- An option turned off on purpose should be turned on only with the owner's agreement.
- If the exchange still fails after the option is on, the receiver behind the control cover needs a meter with line voltage present.
How error code E:0F differs from similar codes
Unlike E:01 or E:09, nothing is misaligned with E:0F; the control is set not to listen.
