What does Speed Queen error code EC:06 mean?

EC:06 is a card error on Speed Queen/Alliance commercial automatic washers that use a smart card for setup data. The display text is "Invalid Data Code," and the manual's error listing says the card data code is not valid for this machine. The cause it gives is a wrong machine type, and the action is to make sure, before downloading, that the data is for the current machine type. A washer control accepts a data card only if its code matches the machine. If it does not, the control refuses to load the data instead of running with settings built for a different washer. The manual does not say how the code is built, does not list other causes, and does not say whether the washer keeps its old settings after a refused load. In practice the card was probably prepared for a different model, or the wrong file was copied to it. The fix is on the card side, in the software that writes it, and not inside the washer.
