EC:50 means the loyalty purse on the card could not be read. The manual says to try the card again, and that if the error persists the card may be bad. Test a second card to be sure.

What does Speed Queen error code EC:50 mean?
Some card systems keep two balances on one card: the normal stored value and a loyalty purse that holds bonus credit. When the washer tries to use the loyalty purse, the reader must first read it. EC:50 means that read did not succeed, and the display shows “Loyalty Purse Read Error”.
The manual describes it as the loyalty purse on the card not being readable, and gives the same practical instruction as for other card errors: try the card again, and if the error persists, the card may be bad. It does not list internal causes and does not describe a reset. Since the loyalty purse is only part of the card's data, a card may still work for normal payments while the bonus area fails. If other cards use their loyalty balance without trouble, the card is the likely culprit, and the laundry owner can reissue it.
