What does Speed Queen error code EC:56 mean?
After a cycle is bought, the reader updates the card. If the card carries a loyalty purse, that balance must be written back too. EC:56 means the reader could not complete that write, and the washer displays “Loyalty Purse Write Error”.
The manual's explanation is that the loyalty purse on the card could not be written, and the advice is the same as for EC:50: try the card again, and if the error keeps happening, the card may be bad. No reader-side cause is listed, no reset is given, and the manual does not say how the cycle itself is treated. A write problem is more sensitive to how the card is handled than a read problem, because pulling the card out early can interrupt the update. For that reason it is worth leaving the card in place until the washer clearly finishes, then trying again.
