UniMac Commercial Washer Message door: Door Not Closed
The word door on a UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractor is a status message, not an alarm. It tells you the door is not closed while the control is waiting in Start Mode. Close and latch the door firmly and the message goes away.
Low: a status message; the washer simply waits until the door is closed.
What does UniMac error code Door mean?
This message is the control's way of saying it is ready but cannot begin. In Start Mode the washer waits for a start command, and before it will fill or turn the drum it checks that the door is closed and locked. If the door switch reports anything else, the display shows door. Nothing has broken, no cycle is lost, and the message disappears once the door is shut properly. The washer cannot start until that happens, because a spinning drum with an open door is dangerous. If door stays on even after the door is closed, the check itself is failing. The door may be catching on something at the seal or edge, the latch and strike may no longer line up, the hinge may have sagged, or the door switch input may be reading wrongly.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to UniMac UW pocket hardmount washer-extractors in the PHM1263R family, such as the UWL035K12 (UWL, UWN and UWU 035-125), with the front-end control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

- Door that looks shut but will not latch
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- Whether something is caught in the door seal or at the edge
- Door latch and strike alignment
- Door switch input
- Door hinge condition
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Door on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A sleeve or sheet pinched at the bottom edge, holding the door a fraction open
- A latch that has worn so the lock tongue no longer reaches its strike
- A door switch that needs adjusting after the door was slammed for a long time
Safe checks before calling for service
- Open the door, check that no linens hang out, and close it firmly.
- Listen for the lock to engage before pressing start.
- Do not force a door that will not shut.
- Wipe the seal and the edge of the opening if lint has built up there.
- If door stays on with the door closed, note how it latches and call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code Door
- Ask whether the door closes with a click and whether the problem started after a hard hit or a load of heavy linens.
- Inspect the seal, latch and strike for wear and alignment.
- Check the hinge for sag or looseness.
- Test the door switch with a meter while closing and opening the door by hand.
- Check the control input for the door signal.
- Adjust or replace the worn part, then run a short cycle.
- Adjusting the latch and switch means working near the door lock circuit.
- Telling a worn latch from a switch problem needs a meter and the right adjustment.
- Forcing or bypassing the door is dangerous because it defeats the guard between people and a spinning drum.
