UniMac QN Washer Error Code E dL2: Door Will Not Unlock
On UniMac QN washer-extractors, E dL2 is the non-fatal door unlock error: the cycle has ended but the door fails to unlock, and the START LED flashes. Pressing START restarts the unlocking attempts, but never pull on the handle. If the door will not release, switch off the power and call us.
Medium: the load is trapped until the lock releases, but there is no unsafe unlock.
What does UniMac error code E dL2 mean?
When a cycle ends, the output board releases the door lock so the load can be removed. E dL2 means that release did not happen. The START LED flashes, and pressing START restarts the unlocking attempts. The laundry stays inside until the lock releases, and the display holds the code. This is a softer error than E dL, because nothing unlocked at the wrong time. The cause is usually in the lock itself. A lock solenoid may fail to release after the cycle ends, a door strike or latch may bind so the lock cannot retract, or a broken wire or loose plug may interrupt the circuit. We free the door safely when it will not release, and we never force it. Pulling on the handle can bend the latch or damage the strike and make the repair larger.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to UniMac QN washer-extractors of 20 to 100 lb, such as the UCA020QN, in the CHM1792C family with the front-end control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

How a technician diagnoses error code E dL2
- Ask how long the door has been locked and whether it clicked at all.
- Make sure the drum is stopped and the washer is locked out before any release is attempted.
- Check the lock mechanism for binding, sagging or buildup.
- Test the unlock signal from the output board at the lock.
- Inspect the wiring and plug.
- Replace the lock or wiring that fails and test the full open and close.
- Releasing a stuck lock without breaking the latch takes the right procedure.
- The lock circuit is on the output board with live circuits behind the panel.
- Pulling or prying the door can crack the door glass or frame.
How error code E dL2 differs from similar codes
E dL2 is a lock that will not release after the cycle, whereas E dL1 is a lock that never engages and E dL is a fatal mid-cycle unlock.
