UniMac Commercial Washer Error Code E do: Door Opened While Locked
E do is the door open error on UniMac UC-series and UW pocket hardmount washer-extractors. The control saw the door-open and door-locked inputs at the same moment. Power the machine down, let the drum stop, and start again, and call us if E do returns without anyone touching the door.
Medium: the cycle stops until power is cycled, and it often comes from someone pulling the door.
What does UniMac error code E do mean?
The control receives two signals from the door: one says the lock is engaged, and one says the door is open. These should never be true together. E do appears when they are. In plain terms, someone pulled on a locked door. The door is held by the lock, yet the switch shows it opening, so the control stops the cycle to be safe. The cycle does not continue until power is cycled. If no one touched the door, a door switch that is out of adjustment can report open although the door is shut. Door lock or switch wiring that is loose can create the same pair of signals, and a worn hinge or strike that lets the door move can do it too. Starting again is fine once the drum has stopped, but a repeat with no one near points to the hardware.
Affected models and control systems
This applies to UniMac UC-series (such as the UCH020GNF) and UW pocket hardmount (UWL, UWN and UWU 035-125) washer-extractors in the CHM495R and PHM1263R families.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- E do on the display
- Cycle stopping after a staff member tugged the door
- Door switch that reports open on a shut door
Possible causes
Listed in UniMac's documentation
- Someone pulling on the door while the cycle ran
- A door switch that is out of adjustment
- Door lock or switch wiring that is loose
- A worn door hinge or strike that lets the door move
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E do on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A heavy cart bumping the door during the cycle
- A switch plunger that has worn short and no longer rests on the door
- A door gasket pushing the door outward under a full load
Safe checks before calling for service
- Power the machine down to clear the code.
- Let the drum stop and the lock release before you open the door.
- Close the door gently and start the cycle again.
- Tell staff not to pull on a locked door.
- If E do returns without anyone touching it, call us.
How a technician diagnoses error code E do
- Ask whether anyone was near the door when the code appeared.
- Inspect the hinge, strike and lock for wear and play.
- Check the door switch adjustment while closing the door gently.
- Test the door-open and door-locked inputs with a meter.
- Check the wiring and connectors at the lock and switch.
- Adjust or replace the worn part and cycle the door repeatedly.
- The door inputs are safety interlocks for a spinning drum.
- Adjusting a door switch changes when the control believes the door is closed.
- Wiring at the lock sits near live circuits.
How error code E do differs from similar codes
E do is a door opened while locked, whereas E dL is a lock that was late and E dr is a drain alarm.

Related UniMac washer error codes
Did someone break the washer by pulling the door?
Probably not. The control stops the cycle to be safe. Check for any damage to the latch.
Why does it say the door is open when it is shut?
A door switch out of adjustment or a loose wire can report open when the door is closed.
Will staff training help?
If pulling was the cause, yes. A repeat with no one near points to the hardware.
