UniMac Commercial Washer Error Code FILL: Did Not Fill in Time
FILL on the WE-6 display means the washer did not fill within the allotted time. It is a recoverable error. Press Enter to restart the fill step for its programmed time, or Clear to abort the cycle and go to the stop routine.
Medium: the cycle waits for the operator and aborts if there is no response.
What does UniMac error code FILL mean?
During a wash step, the WE-6 computer opens the water inlet and expects the tub to reach its programmed level inside a set time. If it does not, the computer stops advancing, turns its outputs off, shows FILL, and pulses the buzzer relay one second on and off for two minutes. It then waits for an operator. Enter restarts the fill step for its originally programmed time, and Clear aborts the cycle and goes to the stop routine. If nobody responds within two minutes, the computer aborts the cycle. The manual also notes that test cycle 01, step 01 intentionally produces FILL, and pressing Start continues; so FILL on that test cycle is not a problem. Everywhere else it means water did not arrive as expected.
Affected models and control systems
UniMac pocket hardmount washer-extractors UW35P2, UW35P3, UW60P2 and UW60P3 with the WE-6 computer control.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- FILL on the display
- Buzzer pulsing
- No water entering the tub
- Cycle waits and then aborts after two minutes
Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code FILL on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Water supply valves closed or pressure low
- Inlet screens clogged with scale or sediment
- Fill valve coil not opening
- Level input not seeing the water
Safe checks before calling for service
- Check that the hot and cold supply valves to the washer are open.
- Press Enter to restart the fill step, or Clear to abort.
- Look for water entering and listen for the valve.
- If FILL returns, stop and do not keep pressing Enter.
- Write down which step FILL appeared in and whether it was test cycle 01.
How a technician diagnoses error code FILL
- Read FILL and the step number it appeared in.
- Check supply pressure and clean the inlet strainers.
- Check the fill valve coils and output voltage at the step.
- Check the level input and wiring.
- Verify a full fill with the programmed time.
- Valve coils and the computer outputs run at line voltage.
- Level input testing needs a meter and the wiring diagram.
- A program with a fill time that is too short must be edited in programming mode.
How error code FILL differs from similar codes
FILL is a recoverable error. OVERHT and DOOR are non-recoverable, and WATER has no two-minute window.
