UniMac Commercial Washer Error Code WATER: Water Still in Machine
WATER on the WE-6 display means the computer senses water in the machine at the end of the stop routine. Outputs stay off and the door cannot be unlocked while water remains. Let the water drain.
Medium: the door stays locked until the water has drained.
What does UniMac error code WATER mean?
When a cycle ends, the computer checks that the tub is empty before it lets anyone open the door. If water is still present at the end of the stop routine, it shows WATER, keeps the outputs off and keeps the door locked. The manual says the computer will not allow the door to open while there is water in the washer-extractor, and the action is to let the water drain. WATER is unusual among these errors because it is exempt from the two-minute response window, so there is no Enter or Clear to press. The reason is protection: a door opening onto a full tub would flood the floor and could injure the operator. If the water never leaves, the problem is in the drain path or in what the machine thinks the water level is. A tub that looks empty through the glass yet still shows WATER points toward the level input rather than the drain.

Possible causes
Likely causes — what usually sits behind error code WATER on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Drain blocked or slow
- Drain valve not opening fully
- Level input still sensing water after the tub is empty
- Inlet valve leaking so water keeps trickling in
Safe checks before calling for service
- Wait and let the water drain, as the manual says.
- Check the drain hose and floor drain for blockage.
- Do not force the door.
- Check whether any inlet valve is dripping into the tub.
- Note how long the water stayed and whether it drained at all.
How a technician diagnoses error code WATER
- Read WATER and the step that came before it.
- Check the drain line, valve and building drain.
- Check the inlet valves for leakage.
- Test the level input against the actual water level.
- Verify the tub empties and the door unlocks.
- The door lock is a safety device and should not be defeated.
- Valves and the level input are wired at line voltage.
- A full tub holds a large and heavy volume of water.
How error code WATER differs from similar codes
WATER has no two-minute response window, unlike FILL and EMTY.
