Victory Commercial Refrigerator Error Code Hi, Lo, dOr, LEA: Cabinet Alerts

On Victory cabinets with a Danfoss ERC-type controller, Hi means too warm, Lo is a low temperature alarm, dOr means a door is open and LEA means the compressor has run too long. Close the doors or drawers and check the box with a thermometer. If a message stays on, a technician should look at it.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the cabinet keeps running, but a lasting message can mean food is warming.

What does Victory error code Hi / Lo / dOr / LEA mean?

The Danfoss ERC-type controller watches cabinet air, a door input and compressor run time. Hi appears when the air passes its upper limit, Lo when it drops under the lower limit, and dOr when the door switch has been open longer than its delay. LEA is different: it reports that the compressor has been running longer than expected, which points to a heavy load, a dirty condenser or loss of refrigerant. The manual also notes that dEF simply shows the cabinet is defrosting, so that one is normal. The messages are shown as Hi, Lo, dOr and LEA, and the cabinet keeps running through most of them. Each message is a prompt to check the door, the load and the box before assuming a failed part.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Victory VUR, VWR, LSR, CBR, VPP and VSP cabinets with a Danfoss ERC-type controller, such as the VUR27HC, VWR48HC and CBR60HC, per manual 809-202A.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • Hi flashing during a busy lunch rush
  • dOr showing while a door or drawer sits slightly ajar
  • Compressor running almost constantly
  • Frost on the evaporator or a warm cabinet with LEA

Possible causes

Listed in Victory's documentation

  • A door left open or a leaking gasket on the cabinet
  • A dirty condenser coil that sends the Hi alarm during busy service
  • An iced evaporator coil that holds back cold air from the box
  • A refrigerant loss that keeps the compressor running long enough to show LEA

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code Hi / Lo / dOr / LEA on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A drawer on a CBR or VPP unit riding on worn slides so it never fully closes
  • Door switch input that sticks when grease builds up around it, leaving dOr on
  • Condenser fins packed with flour or lint in a bakery or prep area

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Check that every door and drawer is fully closed and nothing blocks a gasket.
  2. Place a thermometer in the cabinet to decide whether the message matters.
  3. Clear lint from the condenser area if it is easy to reach.
  4. Wait for a defrost cycle to finish if dEF is showing.
  5. If a message stays on, note which one and whether the compressor runs constantly.

How a technician diagnoses error code Hi / Lo / dOr / LEA

  1. Note which message is active and compare cabinet air with a calibrated thermometer.
  2. Check door switch operation and gasket seal.
  3. Clean the condenser and confirm fan operation.
  4. Inspect the evaporator for ice and verify the defrost cycle.
  5. Check suction and discharge pressures if LEA persists.
  6. Repair the cause before changing the controller.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Pressure readings for an LEA call require gauges on the sealed refrigeration circuit.
  • Fan motors and defrost heaters carry live line voltage behind the access panels.
  • Door switch and parameter checks on the ERC controller call for service-level knowledge of this model.

How error code Hi / Lo / dOr / LEA differs from similar codes

The VCC controller on RS/RSA cabinets uses HI, LO and separate HACCP alarms, while this ERC controller uses Hi, Lo, dOr and LEA. They are not interchangeable.

Hi / Lo / dOr / LEAQuestions about Victory error code Hi / Lo / dOr / LEA
What does dOr mean?

A door or drawer has been open longer than the delay setting. Close it fully and check the gasket.

Is LEA the same as Hi?

No. Hi is about air temperature, while LEA is about how long the compressor has been running.

Can I keep running the cabinet?

Yes for Hi, Lo and dOr once the cause is cleared. If LEA stays on, have it checked because it can point to lost refrigerant.
