Groen floor kettles stand on their own legs or pedestal and heat a steam jacket by gas, electricity or direct steam. The data plate shows a series such as AH/1E, DEE-20 Marine, FT or PT. Tilting models may carry Classic, Advanced or Cook2Temp controls.
Before any inspection, let the kettle and its contents cool completely. We then check the heat source, the jacket and its safety valve, the controls, the tilt gear and the drawoff valve. On gas kettles we test ignition and the burner, and if gas is ever in the air, go outdoors and phone the gas company.
Many older floor kettles are still earning their keep, and we repair them. Floor kettles in busy kitchens see daily heat cycles, so seals and valves are the parts that wear first.

Can a kettle with a leaking drawoff be used?
Not safely. Let the kettle cool, shut it down and call us. We replace worn seals or the valve itself, and the price is on paper before the repair starts.
