Repairs this series usually needs
- Box warm after heavy loading or a door left open
- Door gasket, closer and heater problems
- Evaporator iced up from defrost trouble
- Sensor and alarm codes on the LogiTemp controller
- Condensing section dirty or in hot ambient air
Kold Locker is Nor-Lake’s quick-ship indoor walk-in. The model number on the box reads width by length in feet, so a KL66 is a 6 by 6 and a KL88 is an 8 by 8. A 77 in the number marks the 7 ft 7 in. Height, and a 74 marks the 7 ft 4 in. Floorless version. KLB numbers are coolers and KLF numbers are freezers.
On these boxes we start with the door, because gaskets, closers and heaters decide whether the box holds its temperature. Then we look at the coil, the defrost and the Capsule Pak system. Older spec-guide units used a time clock for defrost, and current ones use the LogiTemp control, so the checks differ by age.
Many older Kold Locker boxes have years left in them. You see the price in writing before any work starts, and if a panel set has outlived repair we say so.

The digits are the box size in feet, width first and then length, such as KL66 for a 6 by 6. A 77 means the box is 7 ft 7 in. High, and a 74 means 7 ft 4 in. And floorless.
What is the difference between KLB and KLF?
KLB numbers are the cooler versions and KLF numbers are the freezers. Freezers run at the lower temperature classes, so their defrost and door heaters matter even more.
Do you repair older Kold Locker walk-ins?
Yes. Both the older time clock boxes and the newer LogiTemp boxes are part of our work. Costs go in writing first, and we flag panels or a system that are beyond saving.
