Manitowoc Indigo Ice Machine Error Code E02: Long Harvest Cycle
E02 on a Manitowoc Indigo cuber without the NXT touch display is logged when harvests drag on. If three harvests in a row last 3.5 minutes, the board records the event but keeps making ice. Watch a harvest if you can and keep the bin and curtain area clear.
Low: a logged event; the machine keeps making ice.

What does Manitowoc error code E02 mean?
After ice freezes on the evaporator, the harvest cycle releases it so the sheet can fall into the bin. A normal harvest is short. When three harvests in a row last 3.5 minutes, the control board records E02 in the event log, but the machine keeps making ice, and it only stops after 500 long harvests. Most owners never see a warning; they just notice sheets of ice releasing slowly or cubes melting. Staff rarely get a warning. The log is where a technician sees it, in the Service menu under Event Log. Slow harvests can come from weak hot gas supply, a harvest valve that is not opening well, water behaving oddly during harvest, a probe out of position or scale and slick surfaces on the evaporator plate. Because the machine keeps going, a service visit can wait for a convenient time, but it should not be forgotten.
Affected models and control systems
Manitowoc Indigo series cubers with the non-NXT control board, which records events in the Service menu under Event Log, View ELog. Other control generations use different codes.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- Ice sheet clings to the evaporator after the cycle
- Ice releasing slowly
- Cubes melting or sticking together in the bin
- No error visible on the machine
Possible causes
Listed in Manitowoc's documentation
- Harvest valve operation and hot gas supply
- Water inlet and dump behavior during harvest
- Ice thickness probe position
- Evaporator plate scale and slick surfaces
- Control board harvest timing
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E02 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- A harvest valve that opens only partly
- A scaled evaporator plate that holds ice tighter
- A probe bent from its set position
- A water supply too cold to let the sheet release
Safe checks before calling for service
- Watch a harvest if you can and note whether the ice slides off the plate or hangs on.
- Check that the supply valve is open.
- Keep the bin and curtain area clear so ice drops freely.
- Tell us what you see when you call; the event log needs a technician to read.
How a technician diagnoses error code E02
- Read the Event Log in the Service menu and count the E02 entries.
- Watch a harvest cycle and time the release.
- Check the harvest valve operation and the hot gas supply.
- Inspect the evaporator for scale and the probe for position.
- Check the water supply temperature and flow during harvest.
- The harvest valve and hot gas lines are part of the sealed refrigerant circuit, which needs certified handling. The board and valves are live line voltage. Reading the log needs the right menu access.
How error code E02 differs from similar codes
E02 is the harvest-side log entry. E01 is the matching entry for long freeze cycles.

Related Manitowoc ice machine error codes
Will the machine stop on its own?
Only after 500 long harvests, so it can run for a long time with the entry.
Do I need to call right away?
Not usually, but do not ignore it. Tell us if ice sticks or melts in the bin.
Is E02 a water problem?
It can be, but the harvest valve and evaporator condition are common causes too.
