Manitowoc Ice Machine Error Code E25: Bin Level Probe, Low Sensor
E25 means the thermistor for the low position of the bin level probe on a Manitowoc Indigo ice machine stayed out of range for over ten minutes. Compare the bin level with what the machine seems to think, and remove clumped ice from around the probe. Do not remove or bend the probe; call us if the entry returns.
Low: bin level control is less accurate, but the machine keeps running.

What does Manitowoc error code E25 mean?
On Manitowoc Indigo ice machines without the NXT display, E25 is logged when the thermistor for the low position of the bin level probe stays outside its valid range for more than ten minutes. The bin level probe has three sensing positions, low, medium and high, and the board uses them to judge how much ice is stored. With the low reading missing, the board loses one of three bin level readings. The machine may overfill the bin or stop early because it misjudges how much ice is there. Staff may notice a full bin that the machine ignores. The display text for the entry is E25. The documented causes are a loose connector on the probe, scale or moisture on the low thermistor, a damaged low sensor, or a broken wire to it.
Affected models and control systems
Manitowoc Indigo series cubers with the non-NXT control board (Service menu > Event Log > View ELog). E25 is the low position; E26 is medium and E27 is high.
Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.
What you may notice
- A full bin that the machine keeps filling
- Ice stopping before the bin is full
- Clumped ice around the probe
- The E25 line in the Event Log
Possible causes
Listed in Manitowoc's documentation
- A loose connector on the bin level probe low sensor
- Scale or moisture on the low position thermistor
- A low sensor that is damaged and reads out of range
- A broken wire to the low bin level thermistor
Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code E25 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.
- Meltwater freezing around the lowest sensor and holding it at one temperature
- A scoop or tool that knocked the probe lead during bin cleaning
- A bin door left open that lets warm, damp air reach the probe
Safe checks before calling for service
- Look at the bin level and see whether it matches what the machine seems to think.
- Remove ice from around the probe if it is clumped.
- Do not remove or bend the probe.
- Call us if the entry returns.
How a technician diagnoses error code E25
- Read the Event Log for E25 and check E26 and E27 for the same probe.
- Inspect the probe connector and lead for moisture or breaks.
- Check the low sensor for ice or scale.
- Measure thermistor resistance against the chart.
- Replace the probe only if the meter shows the low sensor failed.
- The probe plugs into the control board, so testing it involves line-voltage areas.
- A scaled or iced sensor can read out of range without being broken, so cleaning and retesting come first.
- Bin level programming errors can stop the machine from filling, so it takes a trained eye.
How error code E25 differs from similar codes
E25 covers only the low sensor of the three-position bin level probe; E26 and E27 report the others.

Can I keep running the machine with E25?
Yes, but it may overfill the bin or stop early. Keep an eye on the bin level.
Will E25 clear itself?
If ice or moisture caused it, it may stop after the probe dries. A damaged sensor does not.
Why does the machine ignore a full bin?
With one of three readings missing, the board can misjudge how much ice is stored.
