Common Garland problems we fix
In plain words, the way kitchen and laundry staff describe them when they call.
Pilot keeps going out
Burner ports clogged or flames uneven
Oven temperature is wrong
Griddle will not light
Hot spots on the griddle plate
Safety valve will not open
Garland Series We See
Garland ranges are workhorses, and many of the ones we visit are older units. The G Series and U Series are gas restaurant ranges, with models like the G36-6R and the U36-6S. The GF Series adds flame-failure protection, which shuts off the gas if the pilot goes out. Garland’s GTG and GTGG griddles are gas, and we service those as well.
Pilot, Burner, Oven and Griddle Checks
With a standing pilot that keeps going out, we look at the pilot orifice, the thermocouple and the safety valve, in that order. On GF ranges, a pilot that will not hold usually leads us to the flame-failure valve. Uneven flames on an open burner often come from clogged ports, so we clean and adjust before suggesting parts. If an oven runs hotter or cooler than its dial, we check the thermostat and test the actual temperature in the cavity. On a griddle we look at the burners, the thermostat and the pilot, and we check that the plate sits level.
Grease, Humidity and Older Units
Kitchen grease clogs burners and corrodes valves, and coastal humidity in Miami and Houston speeds the corrosion. Cleaning on a regular schedule cuts down on service calls. When a range is old, we explain what a repair would cost against a replacement and let you decide. You get a written price before work begins, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Garland lines and model numbers we service
Current and older lines. Find the number on the data plate and open its series for the usual repairs.
Why does the pilot on my Garland range keep going out?
A weak pilot flame, a dirty pilot orifice, a worn thermocouple or a draft can all cause it. We check each, and on GF models we test the flame-failure protection.
Do you repair older Garland ranges?
Yes. We repair G Series, GF Series and U Series ranges, including older ones. If a repair is not worth the cost, we tell you before work starts.
What is the GF in a Garland GF range?
GF models include flame-failure protection, meaning the gas stops flowing if the pilot goes out. If that protection will not let the burner light, we test the valve and thermocouple.
