Victory Refrigerator Error Code AH1, AL1, OPd: Alarms

AH1 is a high temperature alarm, AL1 is a low temperature alarm and OPd means a door has been open too long. The cabinet keeps running, so check the doors and the load first, then verify the temperature with a separate thermometer.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: warnings only and the cabinet keeps running, but the cause can be a real temperature problem.

What does Victory error code AH1 / AL1 / OPd mean?

On Victory FS, RFS, DRS, RIS-A and ACRS cabinets with an Eliwell-type controller, such as the FSA-1D-S1-HC and RFSA-2D-S1-HC, the display can show AH1 / AL1 / OPd. These are alarms, not shutdowns. The controller compares the cabinet air temperature from its probe with high and low limits, and it times how long the door switch reports an open door. AH1 appears when the air is warmer than the high limit, AL1 when it is colder than the low limit, and OPd when the door stayed open past its allowance. The cabinet keeps running while the alarm is on. Because they are warnings, check the doors and the load first, then look at temperature. A door left open, a hot restock and a dirty condenser raising cabinet air are the common reasons for a high alarm. An iced evaporator coil blocks cold air circulation, and a probe reading wrong can show AL1 or AH1 at the wrong time. A thermometer placed in the cabinet tells you which of these is real.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Victory FS, RFS, DRS, RIS-A and ACRS cabinets with an Eliwell-type controller, for example the FSA-1D-S1-HC and RFSA-2D-S1-HC.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • AH1, AL1 or OPd on the display
  • Warm air or product on a busy shelf
  • A door that stays ajar on a loaded cabinet
  • Frost building on the back wall

Possible causes

Listed in Victory's documentation

  • A door left open on the Victory FS cabinet, setting off OPd
  • A dirty condenser raising cabinet air above the AH1 limit
  • An iced evaporator coil, which stops cold air from circulating
  • A probe reading wrong so AL1 or AH1 shows at the wrong time

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code AH1 / AL1 / OPd on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A gasket worn enough that warm room air leaks in and the cabinet cannot hold the high limit
  • A condenser fan running slowly, so head pressure and cabinet temperature drift upward after lunch rush
  • A defrost that does not clear the coil, so low airflow raises the cabinet air

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Check that the doors are closed.
  2. Verify the air temperature with a separate thermometer.
  3. Clear lint from the condenser area if it is easy to reach.
  4. Give the cabinet time to recover after a restock, and call us if the alarm returns.

How a technician diagnoses error code AH1 / AL1 / OPd

  1. Read the alarm and compare cabinet air with the display using a calibrated thermometer.
  2. Check door gaskets, hinges and the door switch.
  3. Inspect the condenser and fan, and the evaporator coil for ice.
  4. Measure the probe against a reference and check its wiring.
  5. Check the defrost cycle and the compressor operation before changing any control setting.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Condenser and evaporator work touches the sealed refrigerant circuit and live fan wiring.
  • Verifying a probe and defrost operation needs meters and refrigeration gauges.
  • Changing alarm limits to silence the display can hide a real temperature problem.

AH1 / AL1 / OPdQuestions about Victory error code AH1 / AL1 / OPd
Is the food safe?

Check it with a thermometer. These alarms are warnings, and the cabinet air tells the real story.

Will AH1 clear after a restock?

Often yes, once the new product has cooled. If it does not, look at the condenser and door seals.

What does OPd mean?

A door has been open too long. Close it and the alarm should clear.
