Victory Refrigerator Error Code dA, IA, GHI, GLO, Ed1, Ed2: VCC Alarms

This group of Victory VCC alarms covers external alarm inputs, generic high and low alarms and defrost events. Write down which message shows, compare the food temperature with the display, and keep the door shut until we arrive.

Medium · inspection needed

Medium: the cabinet may keep cooling normally, but external alarms and failed defrosts can hide a real problem.

What does Victory error code DA / IA / GHI / GLO / Ed1 / Ed2 mean?

On Victory reach-ins such as the RSA-1D-S1-HC, the VCC controller can show dA / IA / GHI / GLO / Ed1 / Ed2. DA is a delayed external alarm and IA is an immediate external alarm. GHI and GLO are generic high and low alarms. Ed1 and Ed2 mean a defrost ended after its maximum time instead of reaching its target temperature. External alarms come from devices wired to the control, so the cabinet air may be fine. The controller simply reports that the input changed state, and the setting that defines the input decides whether it shows as delayed or immediate. A defrost ending on time limit rather than temperature shows that the coil never warmed enough, which can happen with a weak heater, a bad defrost sensor or heavy frost. The manual lists the device wired to the external input, settings that define what the input means, a coil that does not warm enough in defrost, and a defrost heater or sensor problem.

Affected models and control systems

This applies to Victory reach-in cabinets with the VCC controller, for example the RSA-1D-S1-HC, as listed in the alarm codes table of the RS/RSA manual.

Code numbers and their meaning can change between control generations. We match the full model and control before acting on a code.

What you may notice

  • DA, IA, GHI, GLO, Ed1 or Ed2 on the display
  • Cabinet air that reads normal
  • Heavy frost on the back wall
  • Product temperature slowly drifting upward

Possible causes

Listed in Victory's documentation

  • The device wired to the external input
  • Settings that define what the input means
  • A coil that does not warm enough in defrost
  • A defrost heater or sensor problem

Other likely causes — what usually sits behind error code DA / IA / GHI / GLO / Ed1 / Ed2 on this control. A technician confirms which one it is before any part is replaced.

  • A door switch or high-temperature sensor wired to the external input that has opened
  • A heater element that has burned out, so each defrost runs to its time limit
  • A defrost sensor mounted away from the coil and reading too cold

Safe checks before calling for service

✓ What an operator can do
  1. Write down which message shows.
  2. Compare the food temperature with the message on the display.
  3. Look for heavy frost on the back wall without touching the coil.
  4. Photograph the display, tell us how long it has been showing, and keep the door shut until we arrive.

How a technician diagnoses error code DA / IA / GHI / GLO / Ed1 / Ed2

  1. Read the exact message and decide whether it is an external alarm, a generic alarm or a defrost event.
  2. Trace the device wired to the external input and test its state.
  3. Check the settings that define the input against the maker's values.
  4. Test the defrost heater and the defrost sensor with a meter.
  5. Replace the failed device only once the cause is confirmed.
! Leave this to a technician
  • Defrost heaters carry mains voltage and sit behind the evaporator cover.
  • Wired alarm devices belong to the kitchen's own installation and must be traced safely.
  • Input settings change what the controller treats as an alarm, so they need the maker's values.
