SCB, SCD, SCH, SCL and SCZ are five prefixes in the CHM495R family of washer-extractors, 38 model numbers in all. SCH030GNF and SCL040GC2 are samples. The three digits after the letters give the capacity in pounds, from 20 up to 100.
The front-end control watches the fill, the door, the drain and the load balance, and it gives an error when any step runs out of time. A fill error means the water level was not reached, and a drain alarm means it was not emptied. We check the supply and the drain path first, then the sensing, then the control. Drive errors lead to the motor drive and its wiring.

The three digits are the capacity in pounds, so SCL040 is a 40 lb washer. The full number on the data plate also tells us the control and drive version.
My washer-extractor stops on a drain alarm. Why?
The water level was not reached in the drain step within the allowed time. We check the pump, the drain valve and the plumbing, then the level sensing.
