A Traulsen glycol-cooled prep table cools its rail with a chilled glycol loop instead of with cold air alone. Plate numbers such as TB046SL2S, TB060SL2S and TB046SL3S show the width and pan layout. Eleven numbers are listed. The glycol carries cold from a remote or built-in chiller to the rail.
That changes what we check. If the rail is warm, we look at glycol flow, the pump and any leaks, in addition to the refrigeration side. We check the control, the sensors and the cabinet below as well. A leak in the loop is a repair we price in writing before work begins.
Please have the plate number ready, since these tables vary in layout. Because the rail is cooled differently from the cabinet below, we measure both before deciding where the problem sits.

It is a liquid that carries cold to the rail. A chiller cools it and a pump moves it. If either stops, the rail warms.
How do you find a glycol leak?
We look for wet spots, a low level and a pump that runs without effect. We then trace the line to the leak. A pressure check confirms it.
Is glycol safe around food?
The loop is sealed from the pans. If you see liquid where it should not be, stop using the table and call us. Please keep children and pets away from any spilled liquid.
