The TU is Traulsen’s full-size undercounter, in refrigerator and freezer versions. The plate number gives the width, as in the TU044HT, TU072HT or TU100HT. It uses the same TE, TU and TS control as the prep tables and chef bases.
Undercounter boxes sit beside grills and fryers where heat and grease reach the condenser fast. The control watches for that: when discharge temperature climbs it raises a clean alarm, and on the TS family above 160 F the compressor and fan shut off until the temperature falls. We clean the coil and the filter first, then check the sensors and gaskets.
If the cabinet is boxed in, we look at how air gets to it and suggest changes. We also make sure the filter slides back in firmly after cleaning, since a loose filter lets lint past it and the alarm returns within days.

Heat from the line can push discharge temperature past the control's limit, and the control stops the compressor to protect it. Cleaning the condenser usually helps.
Does the TU come as a freezer?
Yes. The family includes refrigerator and freezer versions, and the plate tells you which you have. Tell us which one yours is when you call so we bring the right parts, since the freezer needs a heater checked.
How often should the filter be cleaned?
In a kitchen with grease, check it every month. A clean filter keeps discharge temperature down and avoids shutdowns. Cleaning the filter without switching the unit off first is not advised, so power it down.
