The i3 and the i5 are the TurboChef i-series rapid cook ovens. They cook with microwave energy and hot air blown at the food, and they need no hood. The i5 has the larger cavity at 2.22 cu ft, and the i3 has 1.14 cu ft. The model number begins with i3 or i5, followed by 9500 and a dash suffix.
Most calls start with a message on the touchscreen. F1 points to the blower, F2 to low cook temperature, and F3 and F4 to the microwave circuit and the door switches. F5 and F6 warn about airflow, so we also look at the rear fan guards. The owner clears the nozzles daily, and we handle everything behind the panels, where the voltage is high.
Many i-series ovens are out of warranty. We repair them and say plainly when a repair is not worth it.

The touchscreen has an Info Mode that keeps an error log. Open it and read us the last entries. It tells us which part to test before we arrive.
How much room does an i3 or i5 need around it?
The manual asks for 2 in on top and at the sides and 19 in at the rear. Less than that and the electrical area runs hot, which brings F5 and F6.
Is the microwave part safe for an owner to check?
No. The microwave circuit uses high voltage and holds a charge. Owners clean the nozzles and the outside, and we open the oven for everything else.
